Serina Johnston (She/They) is a Chicago-based actor, storyteller, and voice artist whose work is grounded in emotional honesty, curiosity, and collaboration. A graduate of Columbia College Chicago with a degree in Theatre and a minor in Voiceover, Serina has built a diverse body of work across independent film and stage, earning a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the Short Encounters International Film Festival for By A Thread.
Whether portraying complex dramatic characters or finding the humanity in moments of comedy, Serina is drawn to stories that invite audiences to see the world — and each other— with greater empathy. Her experience spans lead and supporting roles in film, new play development, and theatre productions throughout Chicago, and they continue to refine their craft through ongoing training and work-study at Forge Film Acting.
As a nonbinary performer, Serina is passionate about authentic representation while embracing the full spectrum of roles that tell compelling human stories. They believe the best performances begin with listening, collaboration, and a willingness to bring both vulnerability and imagination to the work.
When they're not on set or in rehearsal, you'll likely find them behind a microphone recording voiceover, improvising with friends, or searching for the next story worth telling.
